Cedar was taken to the local horse auction in this dreadful condition, where no one wanted her. She is in such poor condition the bid was nothing. She was then given to a man who took her home, tied her to a fence, and left her there. We just happened upon her, Charlotte asked the man if we could have her, and he gave her away as freely as the auction did. This poor old mare was just thrown away again and again.

UPDATE
Cedar, looking like a moth eaten 100 yr old bear rug, has been adopted by Keno’s finest!! Anyone who falls flat on their face in love with a horse that looks like this has to have angel wings. The owners of the Keno Grill, Debi and Jeff are huge supporters of Project Spirit, and now they are truly family. They now own a half naked sweetheart of a horse who will bring them much joy. Dr John said it was severe malnutrition causing the hair to fall out. She is wearing a warm toasty blanket and her sparkle looks like it is coming back. Her weight is already getting better and she is feeling brighter and knows she is safe. She will have a good future. We will update pictures when she is more modest and has all her clothes on.

Cedar did not do well over the winter, she was just abused and starved beyond a full recovery and was quietly euthanized in the spring. She had a wonderful short life with Debi and Jeff, they gave her every chance they could. Thanks to you both, you are hero’s..
