We just found out our beloved Bones died a while ago, it was shocking and sad news because he was always a Project Spirit symbol, and loved by us all. We will always keep him as our mascot, he is what we stand for, re-hab and love.
Bones is a 16 hand Thoroughbred ex-race horse. He came here on Feb 24th after we got a tip from a vet. He was dehydrated and starved, depressed and was extremely sore on untrimmed feet. He has not stopped eating since he came, (I don’t think he ever sleeps) ..but his spark is back, his feet have been saved by our Karen, (our angel “hoof whisperer” trimmer who donates every trim to every horse we get,) and he goes into a coma when groomed. He adores affection in every way and is the sweetest horse you could ever be around.
He was used in a teaching class for the volunteers and the deputies to show how to grade horses in abuse cases. He was a grade 1 1/2, and that was after 3 weeks of good food.
He will take a long time to come back completely, but I think he is going to surprise everyone, I see a hint of the gorgeous horse he is about to become.
This is just 8 weeks later.

This is 12 weeks, he is coming on so well it is amazing. What a beauty, and so sweet and loving. One yell from way across the pasture, and he comes a runnin!!!
Think we may have to change his name soon, but we will leave that to his new owner, whoever you are.

This is bones fit as a fiddle waiting for his new family to pick him up.
