CHESTER

August 8th, 2009

This is Chester, he is 18 yrs old and if you read about Cedar, the story is identical. Sent to the auction a rack of bones, major infection in his withers, multi girth sores under his elbows, and completely terrified if you raised a hand to touch his face. No one bid on him so he was given away to the first person who would take him. He was signed over to the   Humane Society from there.

The person who owned this horse must consider himself a  “real big man” when he did this to such a helpless animal.  (yes, we met.)  Charlotte and Dawn spent weeks feeding and loving this big horse at the shelter, and then when Project Spirit had the room, he came here to be finished off. It took a great deal to assure him he could be touched and no one was going to bash his face.  He was afraid to be caught, but we soon fixed that, he found out that treats, kindness and love are pretty good. John even got to the point of hugging his neck, what a huge step. We took him to his new home on Thursday and he is in the lap of luxury for the rest of his days. My friend Steph will keep him in pure luxury and love, never again will another saddle or girth leave a hole in his body.

 Thank you Steph!!!

Here he is in May, thin, infected and abandoned.

Unloading at his new home.

I think he likes her!!!
