GERTIE and HOMER

November 21st, 2008

Gertie, 16 yr old QH mare.

Homer, 3 yr old gelding.

These two horses were released to us in severe emaciated condition. Gertie is extra thin, has a open infection on her back, and we are hoping it will drain and heal. She is on antibiotics and Immune builders. She is sweet and kind and will be in need of a good home when she is back on track.

Homer is another sweetie, he is gentle and kind, but has major hip troubles, but the chiropractor will be here next week to help him fix that.

He is a big horse for a 3 yr old and will be 16 hands plus when full grown. He ties, trailers and stands quietly, I really like this big ol goober. He loves people and follows me around the pasture.

UPDATE.

Homer, now known as Goober because he is a great big sweet soft ol goober, is fully back to health, adores visitors, (especially the ones armed with carrots, thank you John and Gin) and will go to a home that will adore him forever.

Gertie is fully healed, her infection is long gone, her weight is back and her eyes are soft and sweet. She will go with Tiz and Taz to their retirement home soon.
