Hill Road Animals

June 26th, 2008

Project Spirit and the Klamath Humane Society have been involved with a huge abuse case. There is a ranch outside of town that has been a major problem for over 15 yrs and now it has finally come to a head. There were 55+ horses, over 200 sheep and a small herd of cows, all in dire need of help.

It was a long haul, but we now have posession of these animals and are placing them in good experienced homes.

There are some very nice horses in this herd, mainly Quarter horses and Paints. All they need is a lot of human contact and love.

Just a part of the entire herd.

Herd of sheep. Over 200 with no food.

Sick Horse

On Friday, 27th of June, one of the mares was found dead next to her newborn baby. Harry, the foreman of the ranch did a great job tending to her with cattle colostrum and kept her warm and fed and called for help. We picked up the baby and brought her home to Project Spirit, where she was tested by the vet, given her tetanus and selenium shots and declared healthy.

My friend Cass and I fed her every two hours until the crisis time was over,  and now she is strong and healthy and will be a big gorgeous horse one day.

We named her Chase, after the great ADA who made this all happen. Thank you Cole Chase, you are super!!

The stallions have been gelded, they were treated with superb care by the three ranch hands, and a very caring vet. It was a pleasure to watch them work, every step was quiet and easy and competent.

My hat is off to you Roy Agard, Chad Steele, and Dean Mundy.

These horses are fat and healthy now, and under great care because of the angel ranch owner (who refuses to be named) and her ranch hands. What a great crew, we could not have accomplished this without you.

Keep working at it girl…..They should not have given her extra time, 20 more minutes is too much that alone 20 days, and….as you say….without having the animals vetted.

She should Never be allowed to have animals of any kind ever again… she should be strung up and treated like those poor animals, maybe she would cry out for help then!
